This as well is a very very ancient picture of mine. I've tried to finish it so many times and I got very very close, as you can see. I don't think I even have the colored pencils that made that shade of red anymore.
I like it the way it is, actually. :]
This is a depiction of the first part of the Greek underworld. [Probably obvious to those of you who read the title.] The following enormous mass of text is just naming the characters in the picture. If you don't care, then don't read. Let's start from the top shall we? You know, where the tunnel/stairs are.
The green lady is Demeter, goddess of fertility and agriculture. The blue lady holding the torch of green fire is Hekate, the goddess that helped Demeter in finding her daughter, Persephone, who happens to be the lady half green and half blue. [Yes, I am aware that her arms are so messed and that her entire anatomy is screwed up in general. I'm an improving "artist"!]
The man to the right of Persephone is Hades, and yes, his arms are messed up as well. The frighteningly tall lady behind him with a "whip" [it was supposed to be one!] is Nemesis, aka Divine Retribution. Three headed beast with weird eyes is Cerberus. The girl covering her ears, is the goddess Lyssa [Frenzy, Madness].
Acheron is on the very left side of the paper, in the red river. He has a knife in his head and he's holding two daggers. His name means pain. The other river god is Cocytus, whose name means "wailing".
On the left island [with three red ladies] are the Erinyes [Furies]: Alekto [Unceasing], Tisiphone [Retribution for Murder], and Megaera [Grudge]
The right island is a little crazy. Hopefully, you can make out three demon winged children in the massive chunk of monochrome. They would be Epiphron [Shrewdness], Apate [Deception], and Dolos [Trickery]. The woman with a floating mirror next to the demonic children is Kakia [Vanity]. Above her is Limus [Hunger], who is appropriately clutching his stomach.
To the right of Limus, there is a woman with crazy clawed hands. That's Adaphagia [Gluttony]. How that is representative of her? At the time of drawing her, I tried to make her chunky and the hands were all greedy and stuff. I don't know what happened there.
The red woman next to Adaphagia is Enyo [War]. The woman to the right of Enyo with the red apple is Eris [Strife]. The shadow next to Eris is Erebos [Shadows, Darkness]. The dude with the scythe next to Erebos is Moros [Doom]. Below Doom are his agents, the Moirae [Fates]. Left to right: Klothos [Spinner], Atropos [She Who Cannot be Turned], and Lakhesis [Disposer of Lots].
The cool dude in the boat is Charon, the dude that shipped the dead from the rivers of the underworld to the actual underworld. So where we're at is technically the beginning of the underworld, but there is more to come as you go along the river. Ehehe.
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
